CAMOLIN PARISH HOMECOMING

(Fun for all the family 6 - 8 July 2018)

For some time, the idea of having a Camolin Parish Homecoming had been floating around in my mind - a time when people within the parish and surrounding area could once again mingle and meet those who they rarely, if ever see, people who have over the years lost touch with the parish and community, people who may now reside in various parts of Ireland, even in different countries such as England, America, Australia, Canada, etc.
The first man I turned to was of course, John Kavanagh of Ballyshane; together we had worked on other projects in recent years, such as the written and photographic histories of the parish. I knew that if this project was to gain momentum and be successful, I would have to have John's professionalism and expertise on board, thankfully, as usual, John was only too willing to do so.
We decided that we needed one more to form our little committee to examine the possibiity and feasibility of organising a 'Parish Homecoming', so we turned to John Doyle of Clonhenritt. John has a wealth of memories of village life over the years and a vast knowledge of the area that would be key to the journey we were about to undertake.
We got together over recent months and we came up with the program outlined below. It is a broad outline of the weekend of July 6th - 8th. 2018. It will only be possible with the co-operation of the various organisations and people of the parish and we hope that we can depend on you for this help.
As we go along over the intervening months up to July we will be seeking your help and we will keep you up to date.

Fr. Joe Kavanagh p.p.
